What We're About

Our Goal: To provide an affordable volunteer opportunity in Thailand that is non-profit, straight-forward with "see-through" management.

What is "see-through" management?
"See-through" management is a phrase applied to organisations and companies that are honest and open about how money is collected and where it goes; and what goes own inside the organisation.

We believe that by keeping the volunteer area smaller we can stay in close contact with the volunteers and their sites; making it easier to take personal interest in the volunteer and their site.

By keeping the area small, we can hopefully help the community instead of our on bank accounts.

Problems and Solutions

What's wrong with other organisations and companies?
(Note: Our solutions are in green)

Many volunteer opportunities in Thailand are too expensive to afford; some costing over $800 or more! The reasons for this range from:
  1. High-overhead costs due to a large staff number/You can count the number of staff on one hand.
  2. Volunteers are housed in houses built by the organisation(you're paying the rent/cost of construction), houses that are rented, or sometimes even hotels! Our housing is provided voluntarily by families within the community you will be helping. Sorry, no hotels this time, but housing can range from traditional to western-like housing.
  3. Fortunately, people care enough to pay a lot of money to volunteer in beautiful Thailand; Unfortunately, people are willing to take volunteer's money to help themselves. By allowing the volunteers to know exactly where their money went, we have made them part of the check and balance system. Sometimes we might need a good kick in the pants and told where you think your money should go. This is what I call "see-through management." If we start to act shady, you'll see through it and call us out on it.

Many Organisations and companies make faulty claims on what they deliver. Others keep very general, "You will be given meals, a room and be volunteering...somewhere..." By keeping this site up to date, writing personal emails, and keeping in contact with volunteers and their site through-out the volunteering period we can deliver on the claims we make, and adjust to yours and the site's preferences.

Unwillingness to explain what exactly, "Paper Filing" really requires...and why it costs $500...
...We use a blackboard and chalk...

Volunteers often do not feel like they were prepared well before arriving to their sites. We hope to have pictures of various homestays and communities to give volunteers a better idea of where they will be living and who they will be living with. (No one likes being surprised with the fact that they have to share a bed...)

Many of the free or cheap volunteer sites are in Thai! I cannot read Thai, either... But any I find I will put up here.

How This Works

How does this work and how much is it?

First step is to contact us at volunteerchaiyaphum@gmail.com. Send us a picture of yourself and a short essay about yourself, and why you want to volunteer. Also include the dates you can start. Feel free to ask any questions at this time, as well as, throughout your stay!

After it has been decided that you'll make a good volunteer, we'll send you a detailed email on how to get here, as well as, a guide to avoid getting scammed in Bangkok. Once you're in Chaiyaphum, we'll pick you up.

Now, we will ask that you pay the fee: 8,000 baht for a month(keep in mind, most of this money goes to the families you will be staying with; and the rest to a good cause!)

We will introduce you to your host-family, make sure you are settled in and comfortable.

Throughout the month, we will contact you, or visit your family to make sure you are ok.

Once you are finished teaching, we request you to fill out an evaluation form. Be honest!
We are looking to improve ourselves, we can't do it if you are not honest.
